System Configuration

The system configuration is the data on what the system is. It defines what comprises the system and how they relate. The system configuration model is broken into three primary categories: documentation, deployment, and operations.

The documentation within the system configuration model is the data on what the system is currently or what it will be. The data should be pure and concise and should be void of information on what the system was or how the plan will be implemented.

Deployment is the process of analyzing the documentation, implementing a plan to configure the system, and validating the configuration.

Once the system is up and running security managers, system monitors, and other IT personnel can use the system configuration data for various projects such as monitoring users logins, access privileges, determining what needs to be monitored and when.
