Network Behavior Anomaly Detection (NBAD)

Network behavior anomaly detection is the constant monitoring of a network for unusual or suspicious events. A network behavior analysis offers added security beyond that of firewalls, antivirus software, and spyware detection.

NBAD programs are designed to track critical network characteristics such as traffic volume or bandwidth use of a network. They can also be set to track the behavior of an individual user. In order for such monitoring to be effective, a normal network or user behavior must be established over a period of time in order to measure events against. NBAD's are intended to be used in conjunction with conventional firewalls, antivirus applications, and all other security components.
