FireMon
The FireMon story began in 1997 when FishNet Security Inc., was providing support for a large telecommunications company that had experienced network problems and suspected the firewall was to blame. Jody Brazil, then CTO of FishNet, developed a change monitoring and alert application that would track changes and provide the necessary information to help his team diagnose firewall problems. This was a major breakthrough in firewall policy management and problem resolution.
A technology innovator, Jody understood the demand from enterprise customers and saw there was nothing available in the market. Jody brought his vision to life in March 2001 when the FishNet team released the industry's first firewall monitoring and configuration analysis software, FireMon Security Manager. This solution was OPSEC® certified for Check Point® FireWall-1® from Check Point Software Technologies, Ltd. Under Jody's leadership as CTO and co-founder, FireMon, then named "Secure Passage," was spun off as a separate entity from FishNet Security in 2004.
As a result, Security Manager quickly evolved into a new distributed, extensible architecture that enterprises could trust to deliver a simpler, automated way to analyze and document the impact of configuration changes on security, performance, and compliance.
FireMon continues to build on the strategy that grew its flagship product from a firewall analysis tool into the leading Security Analysis and Compliance solution: to develop tightly integrated, interoperable software with a flexible, scalable architecture that helps network security teams better manage their security environments. Unlike other vendors that provide a "one-size fits all" approach and do not meet the unique analysis and compliance reporting requirements for most organizations, Security Manager is the only solution on the market that can be customized to meet the unique audit and compliance reporting requirements for networks of all sizes while enabling IT organizations to do more with less effort.
